What's NewDemolition Process Amendments to Building By-LawOn Monday, March 19, 2012, City Council considered amendments to the demolition process in Building By-law 2007-102 to ensure adequate refundable securities are collected for the demolition of large buildings. The By-law was approved:

Healthy Homes Renovation Tax CreditEffective October 1, 2011, senior homeowners and tenants, and people who share a home with a senior relative, would be allowed to claim a refundable tax credit of up to $1,500 for expenses related to permanent modifications to the home. Expenses would be eligible only to the extent that they improve accessibility or help a senior be more functional or mobile at home. Click on link. New Building By-lawWith the final provisions of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing’s Building Code Statute Law Amendment Act (former Bill 124) and the 2006 Ontario Building Code now in force, on June 4, 2007, Owen Sound City Council passed By-law 2007-102, the Building By-law, to reflect changes to these documents. County of Grey Development ChargesOn September 5, 2006, the County of Grey passed By-law No. 4336-06, "A By-law to Establish Development Charges for the County of Grey." The by-law provides for the levying of uniform development charges against all new residential development occurring throughout the County. Non-residential development is exempt from the charges. Development charges rates will be phased in over five years, beginning on January 1, 2007. Lower tier municipalities will collect these charges for the County at the time a Building Permit is issued.
